Asia-North America Logistics Hub
Project: Development of an Asia-North America supply chain hub at Anchorage International Airport (ANC)
Description: GLDPartners was engaged to assist the Alaska International Airport System in using its top-tier air cargo hub status to develop ANC into a global center for value added logistics and product manufacturing. Currently ANC is ranked 5th in the world in air cargo volume and is an important global asset for commerce between Asia and North America. Several years ago, the US Congress granted ANC the flexibility to transfer cargo from foreign air carriers to other international or domestic air carriers. This capability is unique to ANC and was enacted to assist ANC in attracting new business around its unique air cargo location. GLDPartners developed an in-depth assessment of key transcontinental supply chains and a review of expected change over the next 10+ years, and then adapted that intelligence to the ANC situation. Following the development of a comprehensive Competitiveness Model, several sector supply chains were selected as core to a business strategy to attract a range of third-party logistics firms, manufacturers and investors.
