Brendan has spent the whole of his career in the maritime and seaports sector and has held a range of senior management positions across North America, the UK and Europe. He has worked in both seaport management and corporate international shipping and his experience includes strategic leadership, marketing and business development, operational management and also the management of many significant asset development projects. His past posts included roles at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Port of Tacoma, the Massachusetts Port Authority and Ports America. Brendan has had management assignments in Europe, the Middle East and Africa with many years based in the UK, Germany, and France.
Over his career, Brendan managed numerous significant ports projects ranging from port acquisitions and terminal investments to profitability plans for container terminals and intermodal rail terminals. He has negotiated terminal leases and operating contracts with many of the leading players in the shipping world and has hands-on experience with break bulk, containers, Ro/Ro carriers and cruise lines.
Brendan’s operational experience has covered areas as wide as producing and implementing labor and operational plans, contractual compliance and business development of both container and other facilities, including modernization of crane and yard handling facilities. His experience also extends to the development of successful transloading plans and initiatives outside of the port gate with work undertaken on transportation corridors, warehousing and foreign trade zones.
Brendan has earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and German from Boston College.
Brendan is active in a variety of professional organizations including the American Association of Port Authorities, International Commerce Club of New Jersey, the Foreign Commerce Club of New York and the Coalition of New England Companies for Trade (CONECT).
